MRABA (Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement)

NPC sororities want every Potential New Member to be informed about their options for joining a sorority.

At the completion of the recruitment process, students who are invited to join an NPC organization will be asked to sign a membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement (MRABA).  The MRABA is a binding contract with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC).  All NPC member organizations pledge to follow the terms of the contract.  Be sure to review the information below and watch this video for a review of the terms.

During the fall informal recruitment and after spring formal recruitment is over (Continuous Open Bidding) students are only asked to sign the MRABA after they’ve been invited by an NPC sorority to join their organization. View a copy of the COB MRABA here.

During the spring formal recruitment participants are asked to sign the MRABA after they’ve competed the final round (Preference Round) of recruitment. View a copy of the Formal Recruitment MRABA here.

Regardless of the time a student signs the MRABA, they should not sign this binding contract if they have questions or need further explanations of any of the items listed. If you have any questions or need further support regarding your sorority selection, please email ofsa@echo.rutgers.edu.

Are you a Transfer to Rutgers who pledged an NPC sorority at your previous institution?

If you pledged, but were never initiated, you can join any of our organizations during your first semester.

If you were initiated into an NPC sorority and your organization is not at Rutgers you cannot pledge or be initiated into a different NPC organization. We are happy to help you find other ways to be involved on campus or direct you to a local alumnae club or chapter.

If you were initiated into an NPC sorority and your organization is at Rutgers you can usually affiliate with it rather quickly. Typically, there is paperwork you complete with your inter/national headquarters to transfer membership from your “old” chapter to Rutgers.
